Experience
After qualifying fifteen years ago I worked for City & Hackney Mind (Mental Health Charity) for seven years as the Clinical Services Manager of the Psychological Therapies Team as well as the Clinical Supervisor for a large team of trainee/qualified counsellors/psychotherapists.
My approach draws on Psychoanalysis, Somatic & Neurobiological approaches to distress/trauma such as Polyvagal Theory & Sensorimotor Psychotherapy as well as Compassion Focused Therapy and several other ‘Third-wave’ approaches. I also integrate Existential Philosophy, Critical Theory, Affect Theory & Queer Theory along with many other modes of contemporary Philosophical and Social theory.
I also feel it’s vital to who i am and how i practice to continue to be open to the infinite learning gained from the many people i work with.
I believe that a productive therapeutic relationship must always aspire to contain the four key elements of comfort, clarification, encouragement and solidarity.
I have worked with a diverse variety of people that have experienced C-PTSD, depression, grief, anxiety, bipolar disorder, various personality disorders, identity-related issues (race, gender and sexuality), obsessive & intrusive states, hearing voices, paranoia, suicidality and many other attachment-based wounding and relational issues.
